New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye dismissed concerns over wide receiver A.J. Brown's underwhelming return to action against the Jets, insisting the performance was simply part of the game.
Brown, who was targeted a game-high 10 times but only caught three passes for 27 yards while dropping several others, played 52 snaps and reported that his ankle felt good despite other minor bumps and bruises.
With the team facing a short week before their matchup against the Bears, Brown stated he has already reviewed the film and is focused on moving forward. The Patriots will rely heavily on the three-time Pro Bowler for Thursday night's game after placing Romeo Doubs on injured reserve, leaving Brown, DeMario Douglas, Efton Chism III, and Kyle Williams as the active receiving corps.
Maye acknowledged he wishes he had more opportunities to throw to Brown, while Brown emphasized the need to keep the process simple and continue building chemistry with the quarterback.
