India’s T20I schedule faces a tight crunch as the team prepares to travel straight from the West Indies series to New Zealand, with just five days separating the two commitments. The five-match T20I series against New Zealand begins in Christchurch on October 22, following the conclusion of the West Indies series in Bengaluru.
Sanju Samson highlighted the logistical challenge, noting that India will have only one day of batting practice before the opener, leaving little time for adjustment to the new conditions. The opener emphasized the need to rely on experience, stating that players will need to quickly adapt to the pitch and weather in Christchurch while carrying forward lessons from the West Indies series.
Samson also mentioned that the team will assess the conditions early in the match, taking a few balls to gauge how to approach their batting and bowling strategies. The rapid turnaround comes after a demanding schedule that included the Asian Games gold medal win in Japan, followed by the West Indies series, which began just three days after India’s final match against Pakistan in the tournament.
