The SEC’s top-ranked team suffered a stunning upset Saturday as Auburn ended Georgia’s 10-game winning streak with a last-second field goal. The Tigers, led by quarterback Byrum Brown, overcame an early 14-0 deficit after Georgia’s first two drives, each spanning over 75 yards.
Auburn tied the game in the second quarter and took a 17-14 lead at halftime, before adding another touchdown in the third quarter on Brown’s 115-yard rushing performance. Georgia clawed back to 24-24 with a 94-yard drive, but a Stockton fumble and a controversial penalty on a Georgia defender set up Auburn’s game-winning 33-yard field goal as time expired.
The Bulldogs’ ground game managed just 113 yards on 28 carries, while quarterback Gunner Stockton left the game early and struggled with two interceptions and a fumble on the final drive. Auburn’s victory, secured by new coach Alex Golesh, marks a major statement win in the Tigers’ rebuilding effort and injects chaos into the SEC’s title race.
