A masked lapwing has taken up residence in the heart of Windsor Park Oval in Tasmania, undisturbed by the weekend cricket matches unfolding around it. The bird, which has been affectionately nicknamed *Faf Swoop Plessis* by local cricket fans, is currently tending to a nest of eggs in the middle of the ground, seemingly unperturbed by the activity on the pitch.
The plover’s presence adds a unique twist to the usual nesting season behavior, where these birds are often known for their aggressive swooping. Windsor Park, located in Riverside just outside Launceston, has become an unlikely stage for this avian spectacle, blending the tranquility of nature with the rhythm of the game.
