San Francisco running back Christian McCaffrey gave his team a brief scare on Sunday when a thigh issue forced him to the locker room during a matchup with Atlanta. The star ball carrier sustained a heavy hit to his leg during the opening possession after hauling in a 25-yard pass, yet he stayed on the field long enough to punch in a one-yard rushing score and accumulate 69 total yards on that initial drive.
After briefly attempting to play on the following possession, trainers tended to his leg before he retreated indoors for evaluation.
Fortunately for the 6-0 franchise, the offensive standout made his way back to the field for the second half. His mid-game absence compounds an already lengthy injury report for the organization, which currently features fourteen players on injured reserve alongside sidelined stars like Nick Bosa, Deebo Samuel, and Mike Evans.
Before this latest contest, McCaffrey had accumulated 350 rushing yards, 190 receiving yards, and seven total touchdowns across the campaign.
