2027 Double London Marathon to host UK Athletics Marathon Champs

The upcoming 2027 London Marathon will feature a historic two-day schedule spanning April 24 and 25, separating the elite men and women across the weekend. Organizers confirmed that the special one-off edition will double as the national championship and the official selection race for both the 2027 World Championships in Beijing and the LA 2028 Olympic Games.

UK Athletics endurance performance lead Tom Craggs and London Marathon Events chief executive Hugh Brasher both highlighted the unprecedented magnitude of the weekend, which is expected to see one hundred thousand participants. British athletes aiming for Beijing must meet specific qualifying times, while the first male and female domestic finishers crossing the line will secure pre-selection for the Olympic team, subject to hitting upcoming standards and subsequent seasonal performance.

Eilish McColgan and Mahamed Mahamed previously claimed the 2026 national titles, setting the stage for next year's expanded trials.
