1st ODI live: Rohit, Virat return as India eye strong start in Thiruvananthapuram

Clear skies and sunshine greeted players as the opening one-day international between India and the West Indies got underway at Greenfield International Stadium. The series opener drew considerable attention due to the return of senior batsmen Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli to the playing eleven.

Simultaneously, Indian athlete Abhay Singh competed in the men's singles squash final against Malaysia's Ng Eain Yow at the Asian Games. A victory in that match would secure both a gold medal and a quota berth for the LA 2028 Olympics.
