‘Wait What!!!’ ‘Nebraska’s About To Win the Big Ten’ — CFB Fans Stunned by Huskers HC Matt Rhule’s Surprise Cameo in HBO’s ‘Lanterns’

Nebraska football coach Matt Rhule surprised television audiences with an unexpected cameo appearance during the season finale of the HBO superhero series Lanterns, playing a fictionalized version of himself alongside actor Shea Pritchard. The unscripted crossover occurred as the Cornhuskers football squad currently holds an undefeated record of five wins and zero losses following a recent victory against Maryland.

Viewers and commentators took to social media to express shock at seeing the collegiate coach in a comic book adaptation, with humorous reactions noting the fictional program's trajectory in the DC universe. Beyond his television debut, Rhule leads his team into an upcoming matchup against Indiana following a difficult prior defeat to the same opponent during the 2024 season.

Currently in his fourth year managing the program in Lincoln, the head coach seeks to elevate his roster's standing as a potential playoff contender despite projections currently offering modest odds for postseason advancement.
