Following a historic record chase in the second One-Day International, India head coach Gautam Gambhir expressed strong dissatisfaction with the conditions at the venue, arguing that the heavily batter-dominated surface deprived bowlers of a fair contest. During the encounter, the visiting team posted a massive total of 405 runs for seven wickets, powered by centuries from John Campbell, Shai Hope, and Amir Jangoo.
In response, India successfully achieved the highest chase in their ODI history by reaching 408 for two in 43.3 overs, securing an eight-wicket triumph and clinching the series. Opening batsman Shubman Gill anchored the innings with an unbeaten 223 runs from 133 balls, while Rohit Sharma contributed 101 runs off 75 deliveries.
The pair combined for a massive 255-run partnership at the top of the order. Additional contributions came from Virat Kohli, who made 29 runs, and Ruturaj Gaikwad, who finished not out with 31 runs.
Gambhir emphasized that such tracks offer virtually no margin of error for young bowlers, making statistics unrepresentative of their actual performance.
