‘Tears in my eyes’ – Dave Portnoy mocks Michigan State’s failed attempt to sabotage Nick Saban

Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy recently mocked Michigan State University after watching an ESPN documentary series about Nick Saban. The program detailed how the university reneged on a promised salary increase of $100,000 for Saban during his tenure as head coach from 1995 to 1999, which ultimately led to his departure for LSU.

Portnoy, a supporter of the rival Michigan Wolverines, ridiculed the school for the decision, suggesting the administrative failure severely damaged the football program for decades. While Saban went on to secure seven national titles throughout his career, Michigan State has not won a national championship since the 1960s.
