‘Super proud’ De Minaur takes down new world No 1 Zverev to reach Vienna Open final

Alex de Minaur delivered a career-defining performance in Vienna, overcoming world No 1 Alexander Zverev in a hard-fought semi-final to secure his place in the Vienna Open final. The Australian, ranked 10th globally, turned the match around with a dominant third-set tiebreak after dropping the second set, winning 6-4, 1-6, 7-6 (7-4).

His aggressive play and clutch moments under pressure set up a showdown with Carlos Alcaraz in the championship match, marking one of the most pivotal wins of his career so far. The victory solidifies de Minaur’s rise as a top-tier competitor on the ATP Tour, particularly against elite opposition like Zverev, who has won two Grand Slam titles.
