Mark Knowles has expressed his disappointment regarding the abrupt end to Gael Monfils' professional tennis career. The veteran French player decided to bypass his scheduled farewell at the Paris Masters following his recent divorce from Elina Svitolina, choosing instead to conclude his time on the court after a second-round defeat to Learner Tien at the US Open.

Knowles, who currently coaches Jessica Pegula, praised Monfils as a premier entertainer in the sport while acknowledging the personal challenges the former World No. 6 is navigating.

Meanwhile, Svitolina is preparing for the upcoming WTA Finals, having recently reached the quarterfinals at the Wuhan tournament.
