George Lombard Jr. made history during the American League Wild Card Series opener by collecting three hits and helping guide New York to a 9-0 victory over Boston.
At just 21 years old, the young shortstop became the youngest Yankees player to register a hit in a postseason contest, adding multiple notable records to his resume. Lombard opened the scoring sequence in the second frame with a soft single, later crossing home plate to spark the offense.
He followed up with an infield single in the fourth before smashing a hard hit off the outfield wall in the eighth inning, finishing his impressive night 3-for-4 with two runs scored.
