'It was not really my dream': Shubman Gill makes shocking admission on India captaincy

India skipper Shubman Gill discussed his perspective on leadership and his status as the top-ranked batter in the fifty-over format ahead of the third fixture in the ongoing series against the West Indies. Gill mentioned that holding the number one ranking holds less importance for him now compared to his primary focus of contributing to team victories.

Regarding his role at the helm of the national squad, the opening batter admitted that taking charge was never a childhood ambition, as his sole focus growing up was playing and winning matches for his country. Gill has displayed remarkable recent form during the series, accumulating 333 runs across two outings, which includes an unbeaten double century scored off 117 deliveries during a successful record run chase at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium.
