The Philadelphia 76ers held an 11‑point advantage over the Chicago Bulls when a missed three‑pointer by Bulls swingman Isaac Okoro led to a long rebound. Point guard Tyrese Maxey lofted a pass to the streaking LeBron James, who was unable to secure the ball and went out of bounds, colliding with a fan seated behind the Sixers’ basket.
Instead of sprinting back, James lingered, grabbed the fan’s wine glass, took a quick sip and handed it back before re‑joining the play, prompting a laugh from teammates and spectators.
After the game, James told ESPN’s Kris Rhim that the sip was “all right,” while the fan, Troy Clemons, said James apologized, spilled the drink and then took a taste before running back onto the court. The incident occurred in Philadelphia during James’s first season with the Sixers, near his 42nd birthday, as the team maintained its lead to secure the win over Chicago.
