Kevin Kisner has doubled down on his recent criticisms regarding why major golf stars travel abroad to compete. During a podcast appearance, the professional golfer clarified his previous remarks about Rory McIlroy and other athletes participating in overseas tournaments.
Kisner argued that substantial appearance fees and prize money are the primary drivers for these trips, noting that players skipped these regions for years prior to lucrative financial incentives. While acknowledging that these competitors also support expanding the sport globally, he expressed frustration that financial motivations are rarely acknowledged honestly.
The controversy stems from an overseas event where McIlroy finished tied for 42nd place and later defended his participation by stating that financial compensation and a desire to grow the game can coexist.
