The NFL Referees Association (NFLRA) has announced plans to challenge the league’s recent suspensions of two officials, arguing the penalties were disproportionate. Adrian Hill, a referee, was suspended for one game after an incident during the Minnesota Vikings’ 15-10 win over the Miami Dolphins, where he was knocked down by Vikings linebacker Eric Wilson.
Hill later apologized to Wilson, who confirmed the official was simply trying to prevent a confrontation between players. Separately, line judge Jeff Seeman faced a two-game suspension after a heated exchange with Arizona Cardinals tight end Trey McBride during the Giants’ 36-24 victory over the Cardinals, with video suggesting Seeman used profanity toward the player.
The NFLRA stated the suspensions were inconsistent with past disciplinary actions and vowed to negotiate with the league to reduce the penalties, while also discussing on-field conduct with the NFL Players Association in response to rising tensions between officials and players.
