Tennis legend Andre Agassi shared his emotional reaction to Alexander Zverev's successful 2026 season, noting that the German's dedication was finally rewarded. Zverev secured his first two major titles by defeating Flavio Cobolli 6-1, 4-6, 6-4, 6-7, 6-1 at Roland Garros and beating Ben Shelton 6-3, 7-6(2), 5-7, 6-2 at the US Open.
His French Open victory marked the first time a German man won a Grand Slam singles title in 30 years, a feat last achieved by Boris Becker in 1996.
Zverev also reached the Wimbledon final, where he lost to Jannik Sinner 7-6(9), 6-7(2), 3-6, 4-6, and the Australian Open semifinals before falling to Carlos Alcaraz. Despite criticism regarding the absence of Alcaraz and Sinner during his title runs, Agassi praised Zverev's work ethic during a Tennis Channel interview and at the Laver Cup.
Andy Roddick observed Agassi's ability to shift from teasing Zverev about his previous press conferences to offering heartfelt support.
