Canadian star Leylah Fernandez has expressed a desire to win the French Open or Wimbledon, despite her most successful Grand Slam performance occurring at the US Open. In a conversation with Tennis Magazin, she explained that the French Open was the first major she watched on television, while the prestige and history of Wimbledon appeal to her.
Since her 2021 US Open final appearance, where she defeated Naomi Osaka, Aryna Sabalenka, and Elina Svitolina before losing to Emma Raducanu, Fernandez has won five WTA titles. Her best results since then include a quarter-final run at Roland Garros in 2022.
While she holds a 63% win-loss record at the US Open and a 59% record at Roland Garros, she has yet to advance past the second round at Wimbledon, including a first-round exit this year.
