‘A Bunch of Dawgs Coming Down the Track’ — Pat McAfee Defies Nick Saban, GameDay Panel With Lone Georgia Pick Over Alabama

October 10, 2026

ESPN’s *College GameDay* panel split sharply ahead of tonight’s SEC showdown, with Pat McAfee standing alone in backing No. 2 Georgia over No.

6 Alabama in a 4–1 vote. The lone Georgia pick came despite a panel featuring Nick Saban, Desmond Howard, Steve “Stanford” Beebe, and Heisman-winning QB Bryce Young—all of whom sided with the Crimson Tide.

McAfee, who had previously praised Georgia’s dominance on *The Pat McAfee Show*, doubled down on social media, calling the Bulldogs’ offense “a bunch of Dawgs coming down the track” while apologizing to Saban and Young for the pick. The panel’s defiance of Alabama’s star power was underscored by Pro Football Network’s College Football Playoff Meter, which gave Georgia a 53.6% chance to win at Bryant-Denny Stadium, where the Bulldogs last prevailed in 2007.

Team grades from PFN also favored Georgia, with the Bulldogs leading in both offense (93.6, 3rd nationally) and defense (92.6, tied for 8th), though Alabama’s quarterback play tilted the narrative toward the Crimson Tide. The series history adds tension: Georgia holds a 2–5 edge since 2020 but lost three of the last four meetings in Tuscaloosa, including a 28–7 SEC Championship defeat last season.

With both teams 5–0 and 3–0 in the SEC, tonight’s clash in Alabama’s home stadium could hinge on whether Georgia’s offensive firepower overcomes the Crimson Tide’s depth and home-field advantage.
