Luka Dončić sparked a decisive surge for the Los Angeles Lakers in their season‑opening 127‑105 victory over the Golden State Warriors on Wednesday. After a foul on a pump fake, Dončić sank two free throws, then a mid‑range jumper while pointing at Warriors rookie Yaxel Lendeborg, who had been taunting him.
The Lakers responded with a 13‑4 run in which Dončić added ten points, finishing with 28 points, eight rebounds, seven assists, three steals and a league‑leading plus‑minus of +31.
Lendeborg received a technical foul with just over 20 seconds left in the second quarter and later was on the receiving end of a dramatic 49‑foot buzzer‑beater from Dončić. The rookie ended the night with 12 points, while coach Steve Kerr sent him back into the game after the earlier incident.
The contest took place at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.
