Veteran relief pitcher Kirby Yates concluded his twelve-season professional career on Saturday at Comerica Park during a four to three defeat against the Detroit Tigers. The thirty-nine-year-old made his first career start as the opener in a bullpen strategy, creating a historic matchup alongside opposing starter Justin Verlander as the first time two thirty-nine-year-old players made their final regular-season appearances in the same game.
