Yankees to start Gerrit Cole in Game 1 of ALDS against Rays

New York manager Aaron Boone has selected ace Gerrit Cole to take the mound for the opening contest of the American League Division Series against Tampa Bay, scheduled for Saturday evening. Cole enters this postseason matchup carrying a strong history against the division rivals from earlier in the campaign, including a scoreless six-inning outing in May followed by two solid performances in July and late September.

Following a quick Wild Card round sweep of Boston that featured strong outings from pitching teammates Cam Schlittler and Max Fried, the club aims to maintain its momentum in Florida.
