Yankees put Cam Schlittler in early hole with 3 first-inning errors vs. Rays in ALDS Game 2

During the second game of the ALDS, the New York Yankees defense struggled significantly in the opening frame, committing three errors behind pitcher Cam Schlittler. These miscues, involving Ryan McMahon, Jazz Chisholm Jr., and Austin Wells, allowed the Tampa Bay Rays to secure a 1-0 lead despite Schlittler forcing the opposition into difficult situations.

Although the Yankees managed to escape the inning without further damage, the defensive lapses forced their starting pitcher to expend 19 pitches early in the contest. The sequence included a botched play at third, a throwing error that allowed a run to score, and a catcher interference call that overturned a strikeout.
