The New Orleans Saints and ESPN commemorated the twentieth anniversary of the 2006 Domecoming game, which marked the stadium's reopening following Hurricane Katrina. During the broadcast, Steve Gleason and Curtis Deloatch, who combined for a pivotal blocked punt in the original contest, led the crowd in a chant.

The pregame festivities featured singer Irma Thomas performing the national anthem alongside pianist River Eckert, while actor Anthony Mackie narrated a tribute video. Additional segments included reflections from Mike Tirico, Sean Payton, and Drew Brees regarding the historical significance of the return to the city.
