Yankees News: Drew Rasmussen and Rays take Round 1

The Tampa Bay Rays secured an opening victory in the American League Division Series by defeating the New York Yankees 1-0 on Saturday night. Tampa Bay pitcher Drew Rasmussen dominated the Bronx Bombers by carrying a no-hit bid into the eighth inning.

New York opted to give Gerrit Cole the ball for the first game despite strong finishes from Carlos Rodón, and Cole delivered five innings of one-run ball. Elsewhere, the Yankees are reportedly hoping to extend the contract of pitching coach Matt Blake following another strong campaign.

Additionally, past trade deadline details revealed that Baltimore would have dealt catcher Adley Rutschman to New York, but negotiations stalled over prospect Yostin Pena.
