Yankees ALDS Notes: Why Drew Rasmussen was unhittable; taking a shot with Giancarlo Stanton

Following a tight 1-0 defeat to open the ALDS, New York manager Aaron Boone and his squad addressed the masterful performance delivered by Tampa Bay pitcher Drew Rasmussen. The right-hander flirted with history by carrying a no-hitter deep into the eighth frame before Austin Wells broke it up with a double, ultimately finishing his outing with eight dominant shutout frames while racking up 10 strikeouts, allowing just one hit and two walks.

Hitters like Jazz Chisholm Jr. and Luis Garcia Jr.

acknowledged the exceptional command and pitch execution that kept the lineup off balance all evening. Although Rasmussen also stifled New York back on September 22 with 11 strikeouts over 6.2 innings, Boone remains fully confident that his hitters will adjust and solve the opposing ace if they cross paths again in the series.
