Yamaha's 2027 850cc MotoGP bike is “like swapping brands”

Augusto Fernandez has provided insight into Yamaha's 2027 MotoGP prototype, noting that the 850cc machine feels so distinct from the current 1000cc V4 that it resembles switching to a different manufacturer entirely. While balancing his role as a substitute for the injured Toprak Razgatlioglu, Fernandez continues to prioritize his development work on the future bike alongside Andrea Dovizioso as the team prepares for upcoming testing milestones.

Fernandez recently competed at Phillip Island, where he outperformed factory riders Alex Rins and Fabio Quartararo during a wet qualifying session. He is now preparing for the Malaysian Grand Prix at Sepang, a track where he possesses significant experience from his previous seasons and recent testing duties.
