Caitlin Clark, an Indiana Fever star, earned a spot on the All-WNBA First Team after a historic season where she became the first player to rank in the top three for both assists (8.3) and points (22.3) in league history. She also established a new record for points created per game at 41.2.
Despite these achievements, analyst Trysta Krick suggested on The Daily W that Clark should have been on the second team instead of Jackie Young of the Las Vegas Aces, claiming Clark had a poor start to the year.
Social media users countered Krick's take by pointing out that Clark was the June Player of the Month, averaging 4.0 rebounds, 8.2 assists, and 21.9 points over 10 games. Critics also noted that Jackie Young's early season performance was weaker, as she averaged 4.8 rebounds, 6.1 assists, and 11.8 points in her first eight games and had two scoreless outings against the Los Angeles Sparks on May 23 and the Atlanta Dream on May 17.
In contrast, Clark's first seven games saw her average 4.0 rebounds, 8.1 assists, and 20.1 points.
