Willock and Hall on target as Newcastle end Hull's unbeaten start

Newcastle rebounded from Monday's 4-1 loss against Leeds by defeating Hull 2-1, halting their opponents' undefeated run in the Premier League. Harvey Barnes set up two goals in the opening ten minutes, first slipping a pass to Joe Willock to rifle past Konstantinos Tzolakis inside three minutes, and then finding Lewis Hall to double the lead with a low strike into the bottom-left corner.

Newcastle missed an opportunity to make it 3-0 right before the break when Tzolakis parried away a Yoane Wissa penalty kick awarded after Sorba Thomas pulled down Jacob Murphy.

Hull responded strongly in the second period, cutting the deficit past the hour mark through substitute Mohamed-Ali Cho, who found the net via the upright. Hull pushed aggressively across the final 15 minutes as full-backs Lewie Coyle and Ryan Giles sent in repeated deliveries, with newcomer Tim Iroegbunam nearly equalizing when his volley flew fractions wide of the top-right corner.

The hosts managed to withstand the late pressure to claim all three points.
