Former NFL quarterback Tony Romo faced an unexpected setback in his golf career just hours after announcing his departure from CBS. On October 2, he was disqualified from a Korn Ferry Tour pre-qualifier event in Oklahoma after submitting an incorrect scorecard.
Despite finishing his final round, Romo signed for scores of 4 on the 16th and 17th holes, though witnesses—including a referee monitoring his group due to pace-of-play issues—confirmed he had actually three-putted for 5s at both holes. A PGA Tour official later confirmed Romo acknowledged the mistake, attributing it to a rushed scoring process.
Though his third-round performance had already ruled out advancement regardless of the error, the disqualification still marked an unusual end to his tournament. Romo had previously stated he planned to step back from public life following his July OWI arrest but intended to keep playing golf competitively.
