Why is the 2026 Bahrain Grand Prix taking place in Malaysia?

Formula 1 has confirmed that the 2026 Bahrain Grand Prix will relocate to Malaysia as a result of ongoing regional conflict in the Middle East. Originally scheduled for April, the event is now set to run from October 2 through October 4, culminating in the main race on Sunday, October 4.

While the official title of the competition remains the Formula 1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix in Malaysia, the venue has shifted entirely. The races will take place on the Sepang International Circuit, situated close to the city of Kuala Lumpur.
