Iga Swiatek faces scrutiny regarding her coaching partnership with Francisco Roig following a recent quarter-final exit at the China Open against Elise Mertens. Despite 2026 marking her first year without a Grand Slam title since 2021, the pair achieved a victory at the Canadian Open in August and reached the Cincinnati Open semi-finals.
While her clay court season yielded disappointing results at Roland Garros and other events, there are signs of tactical improvement in her shot-making. Given that she has held the world number one ranking for 125 weeks and won six Grand Slam titles, Swiatek should allow more time for this collaboration to mature through a full off-season.
Greg Rusedski has also weighed in on the current state of her team's performance.
