Houston announced the hiring of Randy Flores, the Cardinals’ assistant general manager and scouting director, as its new general manager, ending a search that began after Dana Brown’s departure in August. Flores, 51, brings a résumé that includes drafting Tommy Edman and Lars Nootbaar for St.
Louis, running the Cardinals’ drafts since 2025, and serving as assistant GM since 2018, as well as a playing career that featured a World Series‑winning postseason stint in 2006.
Flores inherits a club that captured the AL West with an 81‑81 record, the lowest winning percentage ever to reach the playoffs in a full season, before being swept by the Chicago White Sox in the wild‑card round at Daikin Park. He must also replace manager Joe Espada, who was let go on Oct.
14 after three seasons that produced two division titles but a 0‑4 postseason record.
