NBA Cup 2026: Defending champ Knicks fall to Sixers, again, in first night of play

The defending champion New York Knicks have hit a rough start to their 2026 Emirates NBA Cup campaign, falling 106-100 to the Philadelphia 76ers during the opening night of group play. The matchup, held at Xfinity Mobile Arena, held significance for the most recent season, as the Knicks' recent championship success helped build franchise confidence.

Jaylen Brown of the 76ers is unavailable for the matchup, as he was downgraded from questionable to doubtful before being ruled out due to patellar tendinopathy.
