Cricket West Indies has announced significant financial adjustments to cope with severe budgetary deficits, including a quarter reduction in international player compensation alongside shortened retainer periods for domestic participants down to seven months. Additionally, the organization canceled the upcoming men's Super50 competition and the women's T20 Blaze due to heavy operational expenses associated with travel and staging.
Chief executive Chris Dehring noted that the historical funding model covering all expenses for national squads had become entirely unviable. In place of the canceled events, the governing body plans to introduce Olympic qualification invitationals for the ten regional territories, with individual boards handling travel and entry costs.
