Teenage sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi starred with a blistering 45 runs from 19 deliveries, spearheading India to a commanding six-wicket triumph over New Zealand in the third Twenty20 International. Opening the batting alongside Abhishek Sharma, the fifteen-year-old launched an aggressive assault that yielded India's highest Powerplay score in the format, reaching 118 without loss in six overs.
New Zealand had posted a target of 199, which the visitors chased down successfully in just 13.2 overs to capture an unassailable three-nil lead in the series with two matches remaining. Matthew Fisher eventually removed Sooryavanshi in the eighth inning after the young opener struck four boundaries and four sixes during a record 133-run partnership.
