Former US Open champion Andy Roddick argues that Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz are facing physical setbacks that threaten their ability to match the Grand Slam records of the 'Big Three.' Roddick noted on his podcast that both players have suffered injuries after years of dominance, with Sinner missing the French Open due to a knee issue and Alcaraz absent from the French Open and Wimbledon because of a wrist problem. These absences contributed to a drop in their combined major titles, which fell to two in 2026 after they each won two in both 2024 and 2025.
Roddick emphasized that longevity is the key differentiator for players like Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic, and Serena Williams, who all secured 20 or more major singles titles. He suggested that Sinner and Alcaraz must keep their bodies healthy for an extended period to reach that elite tier, acknowledging that Sinner's recent withdrawal from the Shanghai Masters has ended his 2026 season early.
