South Carolina quarterback LaNorris Sellers and wide receiver Mazeo Bennett Jr. found themselves in a heated sideline exchange before the Gamecocks’ offense turned the tables against Florida.
The tension dissipated quickly, however, as Sellers connected with Bennett on a 12-yard touchdown pass to break a 10-10 tie in the first quarter. The momentum carried over as Sellers added two more scoring throws—a 26-yard strike to Donovan Murph and a 21-yard pass to Lex Cyrus—before finishing the drive with a one-yard touchdown run, extending the lead to 38-13 by the fourth quarter.
The Gamecocks’ resurgence included the return of star edge rusher Dylan Stewart from suspension, while Florida’s once-promising season now faces uncertainty after a demoralizing loss to the underdog South Carolina. The upset also came after the Gamecocks’ season had stumbled earlier, including head coach Shane Beamer facing mounting pressure amid the team’s struggles prior to Saturday’s performance.
