Warrior forward Yaxel Lendeborg has sparked a feud with Lakers star Luka Doncic after publicly saying he no longer respects the Slovenian after the Lakers‑Warriors opener on Oct. 21.
Doncic, who is averaging a league‑leading 36 points per game, will be well rested following a back‑to‑back schedule that saw him sit out the Lakers’ 103‑87 win over the Clippers because of back tightness. The rivalry intensified when Lendeborg, who is averaging 22.6 points, 9.2 rebounds, four assists and a steal per game in his rookie season, was assessed a technical foul late in the first half for taunting Doncic, prompting the latter to hit a 49‑foot buzzer‑beater and then confront Lendeborg on the court.
When the two teams met previously, Lendeborg limited Doncic to one of six shots as the primary defender, yet the Lakers responded with a 13‑4 run in which Doncic poured in ten points. The Slovenian finished that game with 28 points, eight rebounds, seven assists and three steals, posting the highest plus‑minus (+31) of any player as the Lakers secured a 22‑point victory.
