Four things to watch in the 4th T20I at Eden Park

By Abhinav Earnest · October 30, 2026

India lead 3-0 and have won the series. Here is what to watch when the fourth T20I starts at Eden Park, Auckland, at 8:00 pm local time (12:30 pm IST) on Friday.

1. Does India rotate?

One preview expects India to use the match to try combinations, especially in spin. Kuldeep Yadav and Varun Chakaravarthy are in the squad but have not played in the series. Playing Kuldeep would likely change the balance of a side that has batted down to number eight.

2. Santner against the left-handers and Samson

Mitchell Santner, New Zealand's captain, has been their best bowler, with 4 for 21 in the second match. He has dismissed Sanju Samson four times in seven innings, according to the preview, and Samson averages 8.5 against him.

3. Abhishek Sharma at Eden Park

He made 113 from 38 balls in Wellington. The previews note he has 1,984 T20I runs at a strike rate of 200.6 since the start of 2025. With Vaibhav Sooryavanshi (295 runs in 10 T20Is, strike rate 185.5) opening beside him, India scored 118 in a powerplay.

4. New Zealand's thin attack

Matt Henry and Lockie Ferguson are out with calf injuries. Santner is still waiting for his first toss win of the series, and bowling first has been the preferred choice so far.

And the crowd

More than 40,000 are expected at a sold-out Eden Park, which would be a New Zealand bilateral-series record. The fifth T20I is at Seddon Park, Hamilton, on 1 November.
