Washington Sundar has been pulled out of the upcoming five-match T20 international series against West Indies, which is scheduled to begin on October 6. Naman Dhir, who recently made his debut in one-day internationals, has been named to take his place in the roster.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India explained that the choice was made with the forthcoming away Test matches against New Zealand in mind. This adjustment allows the spinning all-rounder to participate in red-ball fixtures for his state team, Tamil Nadu, in the domestic Ranji Trophy starting October 11 to gear up for the longer format.
Tamil Nadu is set to open its campaign against Rajasthan. The updated squad features Shreyas Iyer as captain, alongside Abhishek Sharma, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, Ishan Kishan, Sanju Samson, vice-captain Tilak Varma, Shivam Dube, Kuldeep Yadav, Axar Patel, Ravi Bishnoi, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Arshdeep Singh, Prince Yadav, Mayank Yadav, and the replacement Naman Dhir.
