Virat Kohli is closing in on the top spot in the latest ICC ODI batting rankings after scoring an unbeaten 139 against the West Indies. He now sits in second place with 796 rating points, putting him just 20 points behind Shubman Gill, who holds the lead with 816 points following a 110-run knock.
This shift in the standings also pushed Daryl Mitchell down to third place with 794 points. Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma holds the fourth position with 753 points, Ibrahim Zadran is fifth with 719, and Babar Azam sits sixth with 689 points.
The remainder of the top ten features Kusal Mendis in seventh with 674 points, Shai Hope in eighth with 664, Joe Root in ninth with 660, and Harry Tector rounding out the list in tenth with 653 points. With such a narrow gap between the top two batters, the ongoing West Indies ODI series could determine who claims the number one ranking.
