Batting star Virat Kohli reached a historic milestone during Sunday's opening fixture against the West Indies by scaling 15,000 career runs in the 50-over format. The accomplishment places him alongside Sachin Tendulkar as the only players to reach the landmark.
En route to the total, he recorded his 80th half-entieth in the discipline from just 40 deliveries while chasing a target of 296.
He achieved the feat at Greenfield International Stadium by turning a delivery from Alzarri Joseph into a boundary toward the midwicket region. Behind him on the all-time scoring charts are Kumar Sangakkara, Ricky Ponting, and Sanath Jayasuriya.
Furthermore, the Indian batter maintains the record for centuries in the format with 54 to his name.
