
Former USC standout Taylor Mays is heading back to his old stomping grounds this weekend for a matchup against the Trojans. Having built a stellar reputation in Los Angeles with three consecutive first-team All-American selections from 2007 to 2009 alongside 276 tackles and five interceptions, Mays has transitioned into coaching since leaving the NFL.
After spending three seasons from 2022 through 2024 as a defensive analyst on Lincoln Riley's staff at his alma mater, he accepted a position guiding the safeties for Washington ahead of the 2025 campaign.
Saturday afternoon's contest brings a unique twist as the iconic defensive back steps onto the field as an opposing assistant coach for the first time. While local supporters retain immense affection for his remarkable collegiate achievements, they will certainly be rooting against his secondary unit when the opening whistle blows.
