During a recent podcast appearance on The Triple Option, former head coach and current FOX Sports pundit Urban Meyer revealed his personal top five national championship contenders, leaving out two prominent undefeated squads. Meyer stated he was excluding both Indiana and Miami for the time being, questioning the strength of their early-season schedules and discounting the Hoosiers' blowout victories over lower-tier opponents.
Instead, Meyer finalized his top five tier with Texas, Georgia, Ohio State, Florida, and Notre Dame. His selection raised eyebrows among analysts, given that several of the chosen programs also scheduled games against lesser-known or lower-division opponents during the opening weeks of the college football season.
