The Wrexham Open, the UK’s biggest indoor women’s tennis tournament outside the grass-court season, returns this week with a star-studded lineup. Rising talents like Armenia’s Alina Charaeva—who recently stunned world No.
1 Elena Rybakina at the China Open—will join British hopefuls Alicia Dudeney, Hannah Klugman, and Junior Nationals champion Daniella Britton in the competition. The event also features international players such as Greet Minnen and former top-50 stars Lucia Bronzetti, Linda Fruhvirtová, Rebecca Šramková, and Clarisse Burel, adding depth to the W100 ITF World Tennis Tour tournament running from October 18–25.
Last year’s Welsh winners, Mimi Xu and Ella McDonald, claimed both singles and doubles titles, but Xu will miss this year’s event to compete at the W75 Saguenay tournament in Canada, leaving Dudeney and Britton as key British contenders.
