The Cleveland Browns’ pass rush has struggled mightily this season, with their defense ranking 23rd in the league despite expectations that Jared Verse would step into Myles Garrett’s void. Verse, a two-time Pro Bowl selection and Rookie Defensive Player of the Year, was supposed to anchor the left side alongside Alex Wright and Isaiah McGuire, but his production has failed to materialize.
Meanwhile, the Browns could soon have an opportunity to address their shortcomings, as two elite pass rushers—Josh Sweat and Khalil Mack—are reportedly on the trade block before the November 11 deadline. Sweat, a 29-year-old defensive end with 12 sacks last season, has been a shadow of himself in 2026, managing just one sack in four games after returning from a knee injury that sidelined him all of training camp.
His $9.78 million salary this year, with a $16.4 million cap hit, adds urgency to his potential move, especially after Arizona fired head coach Jonathan Gannon, who had brought Sweat to the Cardinals. Mack, a three-time All-Pro and former fifth overall pick, has been a dominant force wherever he’s played, but his availability could provide Cleveland with a proven solution to their defensive woes.
