The Ottawa Senators have officially appointed veteran blueliner Thomas Chabot as their new team captain during a Tuesday afternoon press conference. Chabot inherits the leadership role previously held by Brady Tkachuk before his June trade to the Florida Panthers.
Having spent his entire career with the organization since his debut, the twenty-nine-year-old defenseman steps up as the longest-tenured member on the roster. Teammates Jake Sanderson, Tim Stutzle, and Claude Giroux will serve alongside him as alternate captains for the upcoming campaign.
Chabot brings nine seasons of experience to the position, having logged 569 regular-season appearances while totaling 78 goals and 257 assists for 335 points. His tenure spans back through the franchise's extensive rebuilding phase, highlighted by a long-term contract extension signed in September 2019.
