The three players who ended Roger Federer’s and Rafael Nadal’s tennis careers on the ATP Tour

Stan Wawrinka has concluded his professional tenure following a first-round defeat at the Basel Open, where he fell 7-5, 7-6 to Jiri Lehecka. This retirement follows similar departures this month from Gael Monfils and David Goffin.

The Swiss veteran joins Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal among the icons who have recently stepped away from the sport. Federer played his final professional match at the 2022 Laver Cup, where he and Nadal were defeated 4-6, 7-6, 11-9 by Frances Tiafoe and Jack Sock.

Nadal later finished his career at the 2024 Davis Cup Finals in Malaga, losing his opening singles match 6-4, 6-4 to Botic van de Zandschulp before Spain was eliminated in the doubles rubber.
